Travel for an appointment, treatment or a companion’s visit can make ordinary accommodation details feel more important. A useful plan focuses on the exact destination, the likely routine and the possibility that dates may change. It also keeps the provider’s role clear: Sandton Stay provides furnished accommodation only, not medical care, recovery care or transport.

Map the exact destination, not only the suburb

Start with the full address of every place that must be reached. A hospital or clinic name can have more than one location, and a Johannesburg suburb can cover a large area. Compare the exact residence address with the exact appointment destination using a live route planner at the expected travel times.

Do not rely on a fixed travel-time claim. Traffic, roadworks, route choice and appointment time can all change the journey. If transport is being arranged by a separate provider, share the confirmed accommodation address with them directly.

Build flexibility into the date request

Send the expected arrival and departure dates, then explain whether either date might move. Ask for the minimum stay, cancellation terms, early-departure terms and the process for requesting an extension. An extension remains subject to availability until confirmed.

If the visit might last several weeks, ask for both the complete quote for the expected dates and the terms for additional nights. Use the long-stay furnished-apartment checklist to compare utilities, cleaning, deposits and maintenance arrangements.

Describe practical needs without sharing medical details

The accommodation enquiry does not need a diagnosis or treatment history. Share only what changes the property requirement. Examples include the number of guests, separate-bedroom needs, stairs or lift concerns, parking, an expected late arrival, and any specific mobility requirement.

Do not infer accessibility from photographs. Ask the operator to confirm the route from parking or entrance to the apartment, lift availability, doorway or bathroom details, or any other requirement that matters. None of the Sandton Stay residences is presented on this site as wheelchair-accessible.

Plan for a companion’s routine

A companion may need to rest, work, prepare food or manage separate appointments while sharing the stay. Check whether the layout provides enough privacy and whether the occupancy rules allow the planned guests. Two bathrooms can help a shared routine, but the exact sleeping arrangement still needs review.

All four Sandton Stay residences have two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The Monroe and The Madison state capacity for up to four guests. If a visitor may join temporarily, ask whether that is permitted rather than assuming.

Confirm everyday household features

RequirementWhat to verify
FoodKitchen appliances, cookware, refrigeration and dining setup.
LaundryWhere washing can be done and whether facilities are private.
ConnectivityWi-Fi setup and the calls or remote work it needs to support.
AccessCheck-in procedure, parking route, lift or stairs and entry support.
CleaningWhat is provided, how often and what costs extra.
PowerWhat any stated backup system actually supports and for how long.
Important: a residential backup-power feature must not be assumed suitable for medical equipment. Discuss any equipment or continuity requirement with the healthcare provider and equipment supplier, and verify the accommodation setup separately before booking.

Compare the four residences by verified features

The Terrace Unit 125 and Unit 113 are 80 m² residences in Sandton Gate with two parking bays each. Unit 125 lists integrated appliances and fibre-ready connectivity; Unit 113 has a fitted kitchen, balcony and video tour.

The Monroe in Rosebank lists private laundry, high-speed Wi-Fi, backup power, self check-in and secure garage parking. The Madison in Hurlingham lists two kitchens, a workspace, Wi-Fi, washing machine, backup power, garden, patio and on-site parking.

Those features help create a shortlist; they do not establish suitability for a particular medical visit. Review the photographs, exact address and property-specific response before deciding.

Request a complete, privacy-conscious quote

Ask the operator to confirm the named residence, dates, guest count, total price, fees, utilities, cleaning, deposit, minimum stay, arrival and departure procedure, cancellation and extension terms. State only the practical requirements needed to answer the accommodation question.

A useful enquiry: “We need furnished accommodation from [arrival] to [departure] for [guest count], with possible date flexibility. Our practical requirements are [parking, separate rooms, access or other essentials]. Please confirm the exact residence, availability, total price, inclusions, access details and change terms.”

Keep care and accommodation arrangements separate

Confirm medical advice, patient transport, equipment and emergency planning with the relevant healthcare professionals and service providers. Confirm accommodation, property access and stay terms with Sandton Stay. Keeping those responsibilities separate makes it easier to identify what has—and has not—been arranged.
